Day 64
Total km 6540
The penultimate day started, wonderfully, I stayed in a motel, with my bike in the room, and as I went past the reception the girl on the desk asked me where I was off to, ? I told her Fishgard, and she says Fishgard to her colleague, is he really going that far, so I had to tell her the whole story, well without even saying anything she took out a tenner, and stuffed it into my hand, from the two of them… and then I told them that the last time anyone did that, was on the way out and I was in Wales as well, lovely genuine people, just like us really…
The weather, was to be bad and it lived up to it, it lashed down all day, and there was no point in hiding from it, otherwise I’d miss the boat, so I just got saturated, I don’t mind the body getting wet cause you can keep warm as you cycle, but I hate getting my feet wet they just get colder and colder… I’m an old git..
I was starting to dare think about getting home, and seeing my family that I hadn’t seen in three months, but just kept it at the back of my mind, in a little box ready to burst out when I was closer to home.
So I eventually, got to Fishgard, and had to get dry, popped into a small hotel to hang around until 2 am.. met a guy there who said I reminded him of someone, he said I probably wouldn’t know him, I said who? Chuck Norris, was his answer, I burst out laughing, and said how In the name of God do I look like him, he said oh when he was young of course, as if that made much of a difference…
Well I cheerfully cycled in the dark down to the ship, ready to take on any bad guys that would pop out if the hedges…
Stena lines, sponsored my journey, and gave me a cabin as well, I tried to sleep, but wasn’t really switching off as the rolling of the ship was a strange unfamiliar feeling…
