Day 59
Total km 5950
I knew it was going to be windy the closer I got to the coast, so when I hit the main elevated road I was cursing Napoleon, any one that knows me knows I hate the wind with a passion, there is nothing that the wind gives us, it always wrecking things and causing havoc, unless you own a windmill or live in China were the smog needs to be blown away, or you like kite flying… ! Or you have a tall ship, with lots of sails that need filling…
Anyway I tried to think positive about this lovely breeze, but the breeze (cross wind) was so strong, I had to lean the bike into it to keep me from going into the ditch, and then when a car passed me it was like someone took hold of the handlebars and kicked them to one side, so it was tricky it must have looked funny if you were approaching me, must have looked like I was about to fall over… But was some how being held up…
Just as I was in a really gusty area a motor biker and passenger coming the other way beeped and waved at me… they must have understood what I was trying to do, now that I think of it, another guy in a car going roundabout did the same thumbs up, it’s cheers me up straight away when you get that,
I had to find some shelter from the ‘breeze’ I saw a sign for a bicycle route, and what ya know it was straight into a forest, great it wasn’t on any map or GPS, but it was an old railway they converted into a cycle route, and it was going my way, what a lucky boy…
It Went on for 20 k and then ended, what a pity, then I was back on the blustery roads, went a roundbout way to Caen, but legs were like Logs, not sure why… I felt tired as well I think the wind was sapping my energy or else it was from big days that was making me tired , so I decided to call it a day 60 k from Caen not a happy bunny.
